Building Your Wardrobe: Shoes

Untitled #41

The next focus in my 'Building You Wardrobe' series is on shoes! In previous posts I have covered the basics and essentials that I believe are needed when building your wardrobe. Remember that everyone's style is different, and some of the shoes I mention here may not be something you wear often or at all.

SNEAKERS:
Sneakers are, hands down, my 'go to' shoes. Whether it be Summer, Autumn, Winter or Spring, sneakers can be styled with jeans, skirts, shorts and dresses. They come in so many different colours there'd always be a pair to match your outfit, however I recommend your first pair to be either black or white since they are the easiest colours to match with outfits.

This is one way I would style a pair of Play Comme Des Garçons Converse Sneakers:

BOOTS:
Boots are another type of shoe that are very versatile and come in many different styles. They could be ankle boots, cut out boots, combat boots, riding boots or over-the-knee boots. I find that I wear boots almost as much as I wear sneakers, whether that be in Summer or Winter.

Here's how I would style a pair of lace up boots:

PUMPS:
This next type of shoe may not be for everyone because I'm sure that there are many of you out there who prefer not to wear anything with a heel, however I find that having a pair of simple, black pumps in my wardrobe can come in handy when I want to dress up my outfit or am going out to a formal event. They are in a way, essential to have, but this does not mean you have to wear them frequently!

FLATS:
Flats are great to have in your wardrobe since they can either be dressed up or down. Flats come in a massive range of styles and colours, and are best worn with a pair of skinny jeans or a skirt.
