Beauty Haul!

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be doing a beauty haul since I have recently gotten some new beauty products and I thought I'd share it with you guys.

MAC Lipstick - Ruby Woo
I absolutely LOVE this lipstick. The colour is amazing and it's the first matte lipstick that I've gotten. I actually got this as a gift from someone, and I am really thankful for it! I love that it gives you a very retro look and really adds that pop of colour. The only problem I would have with this product is that it's quite drying and does pull on your lips when you apply it, however I would definitely continue to use it despite that! I also love the scent of the lipstick.

MAC Eyeshadow - Enviably Fun
I really like the colour of this eyeshadow. It stands out and looks awesome when you apply it with a flat eyeshadow brush that really packs on the colour.

Priming your eyelids makes the colour stand out more and last longer as well, but I wouldn't say it's a MUST. I do recommend it though since it'll help you get the best colour out of the eyeshadow that'll stay there all day. The primer I've used is the Models Prefer Eye Primer.

Sportsgirl Lip Jam - Cotton Candy
This 'lip jam' smells so good! (Well it is cotton candy flavour) This lip balm adds a nice shine to your lips as well as adding a light pink colour. It applies really smoothly, but it is sticky. I wear this lip balm quite often and definitely recommend trying it!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Sweetheart Valentine
This product is really great! It's long lasting (since it does stain your lips) and gives a great colour. It also has a really minty scent which gives your lips a refreshing feel. The crayon-like applicator allows for smooth and easy application.

Australis Fresh and Flawless Pressed Powder
I've been meaning to try this product for a long time now, however, every time I go to buy it they never have my colour! So when I saw that they had it this time, I had to get it. This product has gotten some really great reviews and has even been been dubbed an alternative to the MAC Studio Fix Pressed Foundation by Jordy's Beauty Spot (Another Australian blogger). Link:  MAC VS. AUSTRALIS: PRESSED POWDER COMPARISON . I have to say that I am really happy with the results and might even add this to my everyday make up routine!

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub
For those of you who don't know, Lush is a cosmetics company whose products are all hand made. The company is strongly against animal testing and all their products are vegan. I bought this lip scrub (as well as the Christmas Eve bath bomb) and I'm so glad that I did! This scrub really leaves your lips feeling soft and smooth. I wouldn't exactly say it tastes like popcorn... but it does smell yummy!

O.P.I Nail Lacquer - Stranger Tides, Heart Throb, Lincoln Park After Dark (respectively)

Stranger Tides: This colour is kind of a green/grey colour. It's not overly bright but a noticably unique colour. I also love the fact that you only need one layer of product to get a completely opaque and thick look.

Heart Throb: My favourite nail colour at the moment would have to be light pink nails and this colour is perfect. You do need a couple of layers though so that it doesn't look translucent (picture below only has one layer).

Lincoln Park After Dark: This may look like a black nail polish, but don't be fooled. Once you apply it to your nails, you can see that it is actually a very dark purple. I have only applied one layer to my nails and I would recommend only applying one layer so that you can see the hints of purple. The more layers you put on, the more it'll look like a black polish.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Building Your Wardrobe: The Essentials

So once you have your basics down pat, the next thing you want to think about are your wardrobe essentials. These are the items that really create your outfit and add character to it. What I think is essential may be completely different to what you think is essential, so always remember that you can alter these ideas to suit your own style. Here are some examples of how I'd style my wardrobe essentials and why I think they're essential.

I am yet to meet someone who doesn't agree that jeans are an absolute must for your wardrobe. Before going into experimenting with colours and styles, I would make sure that I have a pair of black and blue skinny jeans. They are staple pieces in your wardrobe and you'll find that you can't live without them. If you were to splurge on any item of clothing at all, it would be black/blue skinny jeans. You want quality not quantity when it comes to your essentials and jeans are something that you want to last.

Skater Skirts:
There are many different types of skirts available (maxi, peasant, pencil, wrap etc.), however, when building your wardrobe, I'd start of with a plain, simple skater skirt. They are quite versatile, can be worn in a casual or semi-formal way and are easy to accessorise.

Flannel is a great material and I love the plaid pattern. You could wear it with a pullover or over layers in colder weather, or you could just wear a flannel shirt on its own. Either way, it always looks good and is always comfortable.

Knitted Jumpers:
You can't go wrong with a good cable knit and knitted jumpers in general are an absolute essential for me in the winter. They can be worn as a pullover or just on their own.

Feeling under-dressed? Add a blazer to your outfit and it's instantly transformed into something more dressy. Think you're outfit is too simple? Throw on a blazer and it gives your outfit a classy look. Blazers are important to have for those kind of situations (which happen more often than not!).

Leather Jacket:
A leather jacket is great at adding a little edge to your outfit. I see it as a must-have item in your wardrobe. Real leather jacket can cost quite a lot of money, so faux leather can work just as well.

Denim Jacket:
A denim jacket is great for spicing up a simple outfit. There are so many different colours and styles to choose from. It is an item you can wear as part of an everyday outfit and can be worn all year round!

Little Black Dress:
Ah, the classic little black dress. I am still yet to find my perfect little black dress (since I'm so pedantic when it comes to buying clothes), however there have been many occasions when I'd have no idea what to wear and thought that a little black dress would really save me right now. Because it's so versatile and can be dressed up or down, it is a great item to have in your wardrobe!

So there you have your wardrobe essentials! I hope this post helps any of you who are currently building your wardrobe. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Out and About: Shopping, Food, Fun!

Today was an extremely hot day, so instead of staying home in a fully air conditioned house, I decided to head out for lunch and some shopping in the city. What a great idea that was.... (sarcasm intended) Despite the scorching weather, I had a great time. Here is some of what I did....

Enjoying some food in a lane way restaurant called The Quarter.

A friend of mine took me to this really cool bookshop. The walls were covered in books all about spooky stuff. I recommend you check it out if you're in Melbourne!

Ouiji anyone?

Trying stuff on at Comme des Garçons (I still can't pronounce it properly...)

It's practically impossible for me to go shopping without visiting the make up section! I swear it's not an obsession............

Building Your Wardrobe: The Basics

Having the perfect wardrobe (according to our own style) is something that many of us aspire to do. However, when building your wardrobe, you’ve got to start at the bottom. And that means, the basics. The basics are the plain, simple items that form the foundation of your wardrobe. The best part about these items are that they can be dressed up or down, which make them your go-to’s for any occasion.

These plain coloured clothing items may look boring at first, but are great if you want to wear coloured or printed jeans/skirts/shorts/pants. They’re also good for constructing a simple outfit without having to put too much thought into it. Here are some ways you can style them:

Tank Tops

Long-sleeved tops

So when building your wardrobe, always remember to start off with the basics!
